SaaS

Software as a service (SaaS) (Cloud Computing )  is a delivery model that provides the same software to multiple customers via the Internet. In the SaaS model, the software is not hosted on the customers’ individual computers. Instead, it is hosted on a vendor’s computer and customers buy a license or subscription to access and use the software. The SaaS model has several cost advantages over local hosting:

  • Customers don’t have to add computer hardware to host the software
  • Customers don’t have to install and maintain the software
  • Implementation time can be reduced through the standardization of processes
  • Increasing use is simplified since it can be accomplished by the vendor simply enabling access
  • Software improvements are available more quickly since the vendor can apply them in their own computing environment
  • Software improvements are typically pooled, with all customers benefiting from changes initiated by any customer
